Naturopathic Medicine and Paediatric Health
Children are the future of our world. When we educate our kids on what a healthy lifestyle looks like, what healthy food habits are, and what is good and not so good for their individual health, we empower them to take control of their health. Establishing good habits from a young age makes it easier to follow as one gets older optimizing their chances of better health into adulthood so they can reach for the stars and achieve the goals and dreams they wish for. Naturopathic medicine provides safe, effective, and gentle natural treatments tailored to your child(ren)’s individual needs – whether it is specifically focused on preventing an illness, encouraging general nutritional and lifestyle optimization, or a treatment-focused approach targeting a specific health concern.
At Acacia Integrative Wellness, we treat infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school-age children, teenagers and adolescents. Some of the most common areas we help our paediatric clients with are:
Health optimization & prevention
Helping kids navigate healthy eating, making healthy meal/food choices, and helping them engage in an overall healthy lifestyle
Treating and preventing cold and flu’s
Digestive concerns – gas, bloating, diarrhea/constipation, heartburn, tummy pain
Scoliosis – pain management and emotional support
Anxiety/Depression – social anxiety, school anxiety, low mood, stress
Sleeping troubles
ADHD and other behavioural disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorders
Menstrual complaints – period pain, irregular cycles, or PMS
Acne, eczema, and other skin disturbances
Body pain
Increased gas and reflux in babies
Functional and Lab Testing Options for Kids
There are functional tests that can be used to assess kids health. Some of the commonly used tests we provide are:
Food Sensitivity Testing (not recommended for infants and toddlers - there are other methods to assess food sensitivities in this age group)
Blood tests
Neurotransmitter testing (to assess anxiety, low mood and other mental health or behavioural conditions)
Please note that testing is extra and price of each test varies. Some benefit plans may cover a portion of testing under “naturopathic diagnostic testing”. Check with your benefits plan if you are curious!
